Intelligent by whose measure? I have known brilliant monks who dont suffer at all. Its like saying.. oh.. yeah.. you are smart.. so.. its cool that you have can't cope. Bullshit. Its an excuse. Dumb people suffer. Smart people suffer. People suffer.
Okay. I think your therapist is right and I think anon is right. I also think you could be a brilliant monk and suffering on the inside. Who's to say? There have been some extremely brilliant people in my life who suffer greatly-maybe its that they are smart enough to really see what's happening and it breaks their heart. And suffering and not being able to cope are two completely different things.
I have been labeled many things: Depressed, Bipolar, Borderline... Lately I welcome INFJ and HSP. Apparently I feel deeply and am drawn to intelligent minds. Here I shall remain true to me in an absurd world, resolving to relate to my fellow humans and find bliss in life.
