Füri-ous

RJ Cuts a Hole

Instrumental

Inspired by Michael Leviton's February 27, 2011 article in the Modern Love section of The New York Times ("... so I could mimic music box tunes"), I bought a Glockenspiel.

It's perfect. On the piano i've been able to play by ear just about anything i can hum. But chords stump me. I've felt inadequate. Surely a true musician would pull it off as if it was second nature.

Oh, my Glockenspiel. My Glockenspiel!

The first notes i played were G E C (as in the NBC chime). :-)

Comes with a handsome carrying case.

I've enjoyed playing. It is not as effortless as I imagined. I never realized how much tactile intuition went into finding the right keys. Or the visual aspect. Without the black and white layout, I'm a little lost. And my fingertips are feeling left out.

Deep Thoughts (Not By Jack Handey) 26

You know what sucks about being an adult? Even when you're sick, you gotta make your own chicken soup. Yeah, that's just about the only thing that sucks. Everything else is pretty groovy.

Tea-Smoked Salmon 2

Heat the tea rice mixture until it smokes.

The result was so juicy and tender! And better than store-bought anyday. Unbelievable!

Tea-Smoked Salmon

The rub contains smoky tea leaves known as Lapsang Souchong and brown sugar.

Refrigerate overnight and rinse off rub.

This mixture with more aforementioned tea leaves plus rice will generate smoke when heated.

Eatz 2

Tuna dynamite roll

A little food porn for moi.

So sensual!

These seem to me glazed with honey (among other things) and roasted like the Cantonese do their "barbecue pork" known as Cha Siu 叉燒 which literally means "fork-roasting" as they slow-roast the meat over fire for hours while continuing to brush with more glaze, resulting in a flavorful, tender piece. I've never seen this done on chicken but it tasted fine and let's face it, i'll eat anything!
