Lunch with RJ 7

Ethiopian. Another first!

Rolled-up spongy bread.

Entrées are served with two kinds of cottage cheese on a (large!) bed of the same spongy bread and meant to be a shared experience. I have to admit i was a tad squeamish at the sight of its greyish shade and air pockets, but you can't say you've tried Ethiopian cuisine unless you've had this signature accompaniment. It was a delight to touch (and masticate), the texture was so lovely! And to my pleasant surprise, it was fun to scoop up food with it (due to my upbringing i can be uptight about etiquette involving utensils). There is just something to be said about eating with your hands (the traditional way in this case) and knowing you could lick your fingers in public, repeatedly, and no one would raise an eyebrow.
